Projects Document & Data Handover Requirements Standards

Background

From previous Capital Projects experiences, the Client wanted to align project Information handover from different EPCs, contractors and vendors, bridge the gaps and achieve the projects digital twin to avoid conventional projects execution Information handover issues and problems.

Challenges

With the project’s globalizations, having many EPCs/Contractors/Vendors in different locations, the client faced new challenges: To have unified access to latest Information at any point of time from all EPCs/Contractors/Vendors’ locations. Ensuring Information standardization compliance across all EPCs/Contractors/Vendors. Ensuring data consistency and accuracy. Ensuing commissioning and startup data have been populated in timely fashion for Operations and Maintenance systems i.e.; SAP…etc. Eliminating information silos and ensure Information Integrity at Handover.

Solutions

  • The client engaged with Hive Experts to establish the Projects Digital Twin execution strategy and implementation.
  • The strategy included centralization and managing of all the solutions at the client’s data center for all EPCs/Contractors/Vendors (As part of the regulatory policy that Critical Information cannot be transferred outside the country), providing single technology platform solution, ensuring standardization and compliance to client’s standards and requirements.
  • The Solutions also were integrated with the client’s Asset Information Management with SAP BI capability reporting solution to ensure consistency and integrity of delivered project Information.

Results

  • By ensuring that all EPCs have the same access to the client’s centralized platform, the information handover was unified and streamlined smoothly, ensuring commissioning data was populated and ready in timely fashion.
  • The platform included all the engineering authoring solutions which ensured that all the intelligence is available at the client’s premises during the project and after the project handover as they are hosted at the client data center.
  • The client has saved 40% of the information handover costs, including commissioning data readiness on time as the information is already available at the client data center and validated many times through the project lifecycle.
  • As well the approach has granted easy access and visibility to engineering information which was used to monitor the project’s progress. It helped a lot in supporting the negotiations with the EPCs/Contractors/Vendors for change order disputes, resulted in saving millions of dollars.
  • The authoring solutions databases paved the way for future projects and plant changes as all the intelligence is available for the future contractors and vendors to carry out any future required changes, the client is expanding his digital twin implementation based on the established platform.
